As you can see, the cross-tube is hidden behind the bumper. The only thing you can see is a receiver tube. It's going to be one and a quarter inch by one and a quarter inch. It's going to have a half inch hitch pin hole.It's going to have ring style safety chain loops to give you good access on front and back for your safety chains. It's going to be tucked up underneath the bumper, gives it a nice clean look. more

As you can see, the crosstube is hidden up behind the bumper. The only thing you can see is the receiver tube. It's going to provide an 1-1/4" by 1-1/4" receiver tube. It's going to have a 1/2" hitch pin hole. You're going to have more than enough room with this hoop-style safety chain loop. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2009 Volkswagen Routan we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Draw-Tite Class III Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 75579. This is what our hitch looks like when it's installed.The cross tube hides behind the bumper, the only thing you can see is the receiver tube; it's gonna be a class III, 2" by 2". This hole is gonna be 5/8" hitch pin hole. This back hole here, it's gonna be for a J-pin stabilization device only. The J-pin stabilization device is gonna take some of the shake and rattle out of your hitch mount accessories, if they don't have an anti-rattle bolt. It's gonna have loop-style safety chain rings, giving you good access, front and back, for your safety chains. more

Today on our 2010 Volkswagen Routan we're going to be taking at then showing you how to install the Hidden Hitch Custom Fit Class 3 Trailer Hitch. This is a two inch opening, part number on it is 87451. This is what the hitch is going to look like once you get it installed on the vehicle. It's a really nice clean look. There's no trimming of the rear fascia required, it just kind of rests right on top. We don't have to worry about changing the factory setup. There's a dual pin. As you can see this is going to accept the J-pin which is a stabilization and also a locking device. more

Today on our 2010 Volkswagen Routan, we're going to be installing the Curt Custom Fit Class 3 Trailer Hitch Receiver, this has a 2 inch opening. Part number is 13364. Here is what the hitch is going to look like once you get it installed on your vehicle as you can see really clean, really nice look, all our main support bracket is up here behind the bumper. All we are left with is a small receiver tube opening here. 5/8 pin hole there that's going to allow us to use any of the standard 5/8 hitch pins and clips or the standard locks or the anti rattle devices. We got a 2 inch by 2 inch opening. Now this has a 400 pound towing weight capacity or a 4,000 pound gross trailer weight capacity. more

Today on our 2011 Volkswagen Routan we're going to be installing hidden hitch part number 90169. This is what the hitch looks like once on the vehicle. Now, here are a few measurements to help you in selecting a few accessories such as a ball mount, a bike rack or a cargo carrier. For the center of the hitch pin hole to the edge of the bumper is approximately six inches and from the top of the receiver hole to the ground is approximately twelve and a quarter inches. Now let's go ahead and install our hitch. To begin with, you'll need to locate the two rear exhaust hangars. One is near the muffler and the other one is just in front of the rear suspension. You'll want to remove both of these bolts to allow you to get to the existing bolts that are in the lug nuts. On the drivers side you'll remove the two rear bolts and on the passenger side you will only remove the two rear ones making sure that you leave the front bolt in place to hold the bumper on. Now that we have moved all the existing hardware that will be re-used in attaching our hitch, here's the locations. Let's go ahead and slide our hitch up into place. more
